Nestled in the heart of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Niko's Express stands out as a cherished American diner that expertly captures the spirit of classic breakfast and comfort food with a contemporary flair. This cozy spot on King Highway invites locals and visitors alike to indulge in hearty, satisfying meals that feel both familiar and exciting.
Niko's Express excels in delivering a diverse menu that caters to early risers and all-day diners. Breakfast aficionados rave about the Sunshine Special, featuring three perfectly cooked eggs alongside links, bacon, ham, and your choice of potatoes and toast, all for a great value. Those craving something a touch more indulgent often opt for the Ultimate French Toast, which lures diners with its golden crust and fluffy interior, or the famed Keith's Family Special Dessert Platter—a sweet temptation that leaves little room for anything else.
The diner’s skillful take on classic dishes like Biscuits and Gravy brings warmth and nostalgia to every bite, while savory options such as the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and Fries Deluxe and the distinctive Greek Patty Melt showcase the kitchen’s flair for blending American favorites with unique twists. The specialty burgers at Niko’s are a highlight, especially the Toads Brunch Burger, a decadent creation stacked with a fried egg, hash browns, pepper jack cheese, bacon, and gravy that’s bursting with bold flavors—a true feast for the senses.
The atmosphere at Niko’s Express complements its menu perfectly: a welcoming diner vibe where friendly staff readily memorize regular orders and make each guest feel genuinely valued. Regular Joshua Gentry shares, “I’m maybe one of their most consistent usual Sunday morning customers and almost always order the same thing which they’ve all almost memorized.” This personalized service adds depth to the dining experience, making each visit feel like coming home.
What truly sets Niko's apart is its commitment to generous portions and taste that satisfies on multiple levels. From the spicy, perfectly seasoned Mexican Omelet with pickled jalapeños, as praised by Valerie Hanson, to the perfectly grilled breakfast sandwiches that meld hearty ingredients like ham, bacon, and cheese into every fold, every dish is crafted with care and passion.
Despite modest challenges like a slightly cluttered exit and the need for some restroom updates, the overwhelming consensus points to excellent food and attentive service. Teresa Watson notes her first visit left her impressed with the eggs cooked exactly to order and the ultimate French toast that disappeared quickly from her kids’ plates. Brady West echoes this sentiment by appreciating the team's willingness to accommodate special dessert requests, highlighting the staff’s dedicated customer care.
In sum, Niko’s Express is more than just a place to grab breakfast or lunch—it’s a community staple where comfort food meets thoughtful preparation and familiar faces. Whether you’re a Kalamazoo local or passing through, it’s worth taking the time to enjoy a meal that feels like it was made just for you, filled with rich flavors and genuine warmth.
I'm maybe one of there most consistent usual Sunday morning customers and almost always order the same thing which they've all almost memorized. But technically there are 3 kinds of Farmers omelets my favorite being a normal with added mushroom. Well I think they got a new cook last week because the first time making my order she made me a Greek Farmers omelet I'm a reasonable man so I tried it but it wasn't for me but in the end I went to pay for the meal and was told it was on the house Like I've said before there is no flaw with the food. Look at how magnificent both meals looked! They've definitely chosen a talented new cook. Shes just getting started So eventhough Greek wasn't for me Bravo because it looked amazing! I'll be back.
It was my 1st time ever going. My eggs were over medium like I asked for, and the links and american fries were done just the way I like them. My boys had the ultimate french toast, and there wasn't a bit left. My daughter had biscuits and gravy, and they were not bad, but if you don't like pepper, don't order it. Service was okay. For a family of 4, my bill was $55 plus the 20% tip. I would go back. Its better than...The Dig in as well as Roxy's!
One of these days, I'll get around to taking a picture of my food before I inhale it. If you like eggs benedict at all, you absolutely have to get to Niko's. This place is hands down the best breakfast restaurant in our area. Reasonable prices, friendly service, exceptional food. The only disclaimer I have to give here is that the only thing I ever order is the eggs benedict with American fries. I just can't bring myself to order anything else because it's so freaking good.
The food and service was excellent . I ordered the Mexican omelet and it was a generous portion with perfect heat from pickled jalapenos. My husband enjoyed a special from the board on the wall and enjoyed it too. My only negatives would be an exit door blocked by a Lot of clutter and the back of the bathroom door and ceiling were beyond filthy. The floor and fixtures were fine, they just apparently never close the door or look up when cleaning. The food arrived in a remarkably good time.
Had a great breakfast, customer service was excellent and they even special ordered a dessert for me thanks guys at Nikos for and exceptional breakfast and experience!
Strong is the Force within this humble diner, yet even the greatest warriors face trials. Out of balance, the supplies were—soup, steak, and fish, lost to the void. But patience, a Jedi must have, for all places endure their challenges. The meal, once chosen from what remained, did not disappoint. Plentiful, it was. Flavorful, indeed. A Chipotle Chicken Wrap, I did savor, and my companions, guided by the will of the Force, found solace in the Chicken Philly. Though steak was absent, disappointment there was not, for taste and satisfaction we discovered. Fair were the prices, and exceptional was the wait staff—attentive, kind, and as steady as a Jedi Knight in the heat of battle. A misstep in supply, perhaps, but strong is their service, and worthy of return, Nikko’s Express is. May the Fork be with you.
Big thanks to Amanda and the crew at Niko's Express for the delicious breakfast. The breakfast burritos and sausage gravy were absolutely on point.
